Graduation & Weekend Fun

Today my little sis graduates from High School. I can't believe she's that old! While we were home this past weekend, I took some pics of her in her cap and gown since we won't be at the graduation today. Isn't she cute??!! We'll get to see her more often since she'll be coming down here to UVSC and moving in with us for a little while! We are so proud of you, Jess, and love you so much!

My parents & Jess are leaving for Boston tomorrow morning. My other sister, Shara, is graduating from UMASS Lowell with her RN degree on Sunday. She's had a bit of a bumpy college road, but we're glad that she was able to finally finish. We love you Shara!

As mentioned before, we spent this past weekend in Honeyville. We went to over to Logan on Friday evening for Jed's cousin, Tanner's, wedding reception. We got to visit with lots of family. Lucas is still traumatized from the cake in the face. He gets scared when you mention cake and tells everyone "cake...mash it!" It's pretty funny!

Saturday, Jed decided to go fishing to Mantua & Honeyville. He was pretty bummed since he didn't get a single bite. Supposedly they were suppose to stock the Honeyville pond since it was opening day, but hardly anyone caught anything so they don' t think they did.

Sunday, Jess had to speak in Sacrament Meeting with all the graduating seniors. She did such a good job. The Relief Society lesson was on food storage again...I about died! It never fails, every time I go to my mom's ward, they are always doing some food storage activity, talk, etc! Apparently, I haven't learned my lesson yet.

Grandpa had to go help get some cows that had gotten out. Lucky for Lucas, he got to ride Vic.

Monday my mom and I went to Katie (Lasley) Thompson's baby shower. She's due in just a few weeks. We also has a family BBQ at the house. It's always fun to get together. Lucas just loves playing with his cousins.

Growing Baby Boy...

Today was my ultrasound at the hospital and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a bit nervous. Fortunately, the Dr. said everything is fine! He measures about 5 days smaller than my due date, but that's it. His approximate weight now is a little over 4 pounds. She said one possiblity for measuring so small was that he may have already dropped, and that I'll probably measure small the rest of the pregnancy. Since Lucas came about 5 weeks early, I have a 15% chance of this baby also coming early. Let's hope he stays in my tummy a little longer! Here's his cute little profile. It's funny to see the 20 week ultrasound where he fit on the screen and then this one and only his head can fit on it! I'm just happy that he's looks healthy and growing like he should.

Swimming & Doctors

Grandma Valentine was staying at the Marriott in Provo for a conference so we took Lucas over to go swimming with her on Tuesday. He had so much fun! He thought it was hilarious to stand in the hot tub and then get in the regular pool because it would be so cold. Grandma told him that when he's all wrinkled, it's time to get out, but he didn't by it! I told him that we can go swimming in a couple of weeks when he starts swimming lessons. The next morning he woke up and the first thing he said was "swimmin...weeks"! What a smarty pants!










This week has been filled with doctors visits. I finally couldn't stand my neck any longer and decided to go see a Chiropractor. I was a nervous wreck...cracking and twisting just didn't sound fun! Luckily, I chose a one who doesn't do that. Instead he uses a machine to do it all...I was extremely grateful to hear that. So I've been going daily this week in hopes that I'll be able to be normal soon. The first couple of days didn't feel much better, but these past couple of days I feel much better. It still hurts a bit, but at least it's tolerable pain. Jed asked if I was Chiro believer now...I'll believe if the pain goes away!! I don't think it's something I'd do on a regular basis though!

Yesterday I took Lucas to the Dr. The inside of his right nostril kept getting redder and redder (pardon the poor grammer). Yesterday I touched it and it started bleeding. I thought maybe he had an infection or something like that. The doc tried to look in it, but there was too much scabbing...gross, I know! Lucas did so good though, he let him look up there and everything...I think he liked Dr. Bennett. This was the first time we had seen this dr. He thought maybe he has a foreign object up there since its only on one side. He gave us a prescription for Bacterban (sp?) to goop up his nose with and hopefully make all the yucky stuff go away. I'm suppose to call on Tuesday if it doesn't look any better. Lucas hasn't really been one to mess with his nose, so I'm not sure he stuck something up there! If I end up going in on Tuesday, they'll sedate him a little bit in order to get a better look inside.

Today was my dr. appointment for the pregnancy. I'm already at the 2 week appointments. I can't believe how fast it's coming. The last couple of times I've been measuring a little small, but they said it was nothing to worry about. Today I measured quite a bit smaller, 28 cm. I should be around 32 cm. Dr. Glenn said I had dropped off the measuring chart and that we just earned another ultrasound. They need to figure out why the baby is so small. The heartbeat sounds good and I still feel him. Jed asked if we should be concerned and he said that we shouldn't worry...they'll reassure us that everything is fine or tell us what we need to do to make sure everything turns out fine. The ultrasound is scheduled for next Tuesday. Even though Dr. Glenn made us feel okay about it, I still can't help but be nervous and worried. I was just telling Jed the other day that with Lucas he was up in my ribs by now and kicked a lot harder. I guess this would explain it!

So needless to say, we've had lots of co-pays this week!!

Birthday Wishes...

to a "whale" of a girl! Happy Birthday Nappy! I can't believe you are 18...that's crazy! I also can't believe you are graduating. I guess we shouldn't be to sad since that means we'll get to see your bright smiling face daily come August! I am so lucky to have you as a sister and a friend! You are such a good aunt to Lucas...he loves you so much! We hope you have a wonderful day! WE LOVE YOU!

Not to Shabby...

This past weekend my sister Nappy & the Bear River Bears softball team competed for state here in Spanish Fork. My parents came down on Thursday for all the action! Thursday they played two games. They lost the first against Hurricane & won the second against Uintah. On Friday they played awesome and won all three of their games (Union, Juan Diego & Canyon View)! It made for a lot of (hot & sunny) softball, but I sure like to watch it! Lucas even liked to watch when he wasn't concerned about the playground! They lost to Hurricane again on Saturday morning and ended up taking 3rd in state! For not being ranked in state...I think that's great! Jess is an awesome first baseman! Jed likes to call her the hot box because she is quick with her hands and doesn't let anything get by! I'm sad that we won't be watching her play anymore since she graduates next week. We are so proud of you, Nappy & love you very much!

Massage

In the previous post I had mentioned that my neck has been hurting really bad (only on the right side). Today is no different. I have been in so much pain...I'd like to remove my neck and then re-attach my head! When I talked to my dr's office on Monday the nurse told me to drink lots of water, take Tylenol and get a massage. I heeded her advice today and went and got a massage! I've never had one before and was a big nervous, mostly because I wanted it to work a miracle! The massage was nice, but it didn't help the neck or shoulders. They hurt just as bad as before I went in. I'm hoping that it'll go away soon. Any recommendations on what to do for a painful neck/shoulder/dead arm??

Happy Mother's Day!

Although the day is almost over, we still wanted to wish our mom's a very Happy Mother's Day! We couldn't ask for better examples. We are so blessed to have you in our lives and love you very much. We hope you had a wonderful day.

I am so lucky to be a mother to the cutest little boy! He always brightens my day and who can resist such a cute face. Jed and Lucas bought me new golf clubs for Mother's Day. It looks like I'll be spending a little more time at the driving range (I have to learn how to hit the ball straight)!

Tonight we went to Tawnya and Landon's for hamburgers. As Lucas would say... mmmm good! The following is a sequence of pics with Lucas performing one of his favorite songs!

Random Happenings

Nothing too exciting has been happening in our household. We are excited for Tawnya and Landon's big news! Christmas is going to be crazy & fun this year with Lucas to entertain and three new ones to cuddle and hold!

Notice the new quilt in the second picture. I love it! Lucas always tells me how soft it is! The one for the crib looks just like it. My amazing Grandma Nicholas bound both of them by hand. I'm slowly getting the room how I want it. I'm working on some toy storage bin thingy's and hope to have them finished today. If so, I'll post some pics of them. I also have the pillows stuffed for Lucas's bed, but my mom has to show me how to stich them together...the proper way!

We had a drs appointment this week. Everything seems to be good. Dr. Glenn was out of town so I saw his PA. It was good thing I could feel the baby moving all around because it took her FOREVER to find the heartbeat. I'm still measuring a little small, but not enough to be concerned. I start my two week appointments now. Remember....Lucas came before I started the weekly appointments! I don't plan on this one coming early...but there is the possibility! This time around we have NO excuses for not being ready, and yet...we still have not got the totes out of basement! Maybe this weekend.

Yesterday I woke up with the biggest knot in my neck. It hurt all day long. I was hoping that it would be gone today, but nope... I can hardly turn my head! I have to figure out a way to fix it, because I can hardly stand the shoot pain...that was random, but it's what's on my mind currently!

Funny things Lucas says or does:
When you ask him what he wants to eat his response is "Pepperoni". He loves the stuff!
If you pretend to be sad he looks at you and says "Mommy(or whoever) sad...Hug Me"

I know there are more, but I just can't remember them right now. I need to write them down more often so that I can remember the funny things he does!

Collect Them All!

Lucas and I have this goal to collect all these cars...actually, it's more my desire to collect them and his desire to play with them!! He got a few of them for Christmas and Easter from Gram & Gramp Nic and ever since then I've been trying to collect all the other ones. I'm happy to report that so far we have 14 of the 25 that are shown here, not to mention a few others that are not listed! Some of these little buggers are hard to find...such as "Chick". I have yet to see him in any store. My hope is that one day these little cars will be worth millions...I'm only thinking about our retirement!! Since I've never really had a desire to collect anything (except paper towels when I was younger), I'm thoroughly enjoying it. I can see why those who collect things are obsessed...I stopped at 3 stores today just to check out the "Cars" section!!

This past weekend we were up in Honeyville. It was my cousin Kellen's wedding. After the wedding we went to eat lunch at the yummy Mexican place in Tremonton with some family. There was quite a bit of time betwee the wedding and the reception so Jed & Landon decided to go golfing. My mom, Tawn & I drove into Willard to see Chris, Melissa & Nancy's new house. They had the basement all framed and looks really nice.

On Sunday, Lucas woke up not feeling very good. He had lost his voice and his throat was hurting so we kept him home from church. Jed and I decided to take him for a walk across the street to see the miniature bull. The first 20 feet of the walk were peaceful and then the gnats noticed us and decided to eat us! Lucas wasn't quite sure what was bugging him, but as long as he's outside, he'll put up with anything!

I got a new telephoto lense for my camera so we were trying it out. I really like it since you can zoom in a lot closer without being right next the person. It was the first time Jed had also tried the camera.

My grandma finished binding the quilts for boys' room. She's amazing!! I'll post some pictures of them later...I love how they turned out! :)

Happy 50th Dad!

I wanted to wish my dad a happy birthday. He turns 50 years old today!! He's the best dad ever...and I love him so much. He has always been a great example to his family! He has an incredible memory and has an amazing knowledge of the Gospel and Scriptures. He has always supported me and I appreciate him for that. So...to the very talented Cowboy Poet, Boot Repairman, Leather Craftsman, Fabric Cutter, Scriptorian, Grandpa & Dad...Happy Birthday! We hope you have a wonderful day and we love you!
