Candy & Pumpkins

Last Saturday we spent much of the day out and about. Jed has been wanting to take Lucas to Chucky Cheese for awhile. Lucas was so excited about all the games, until he spotted the life size mouse singing Happy Birthday and dancing. He then proceeded to "freak out"! We had to convince him that Chucky wouldn't come get him. I dragged him...literally...over to the games so that he could see how much fun they were (we had already bought the tokens and weren't about to leave before using them)! He ended up having lots of fun and only peeked over his shoulder a few times to make sure the mouse wasn't in sight!

By the time we got home, it was time for the ward trunk or treat. Can I just say how much I love this concept! I may be biased, but the giraffe and caterpillar were pretty darn cute! Here's a couple of pictures. Unfortunately we didn't get home with any good candy...Lucas only picks out tootsie rolls and sucker! I'm hoping to take them to Tawnya's trunk or treat on Halloween.













Later that night Tawnya & Landon came over for dinner and to carve pumpkins. The pumpkins turned out so good. Thank goodness for Landon...our car started sounding horrible during the day and he was able to fix it for us. We were glad he could fix it since I was heading up to my mom's on Sunday afternoon. We then played monopoly with the new credit card system. We really like it...it seems to go faster.

I told him to put his face down by the pumpkin so we could take a picture...this is what we got!

For the Love of Chicken...

Macey's is having a killer deal on chicken right now. It's 1.19 a pound. The catch is that you have to buy it in 40 pound boxes and it's fresh...meaning NEVER been frozen. So...after leaving with TWO boxes, I came home with the daunting task of seperating it, cutting off the fat, and bagging it. Not all 80 pounds are for me. Me, Tawn, & my mom are splitting it. Tawn came over after I had the first box done to help with the rest. What a chore! Next time I might just put it in the freezer in one big blob and chisel of pieces as we need it!!

Punkin Pickin'

Tawn and I took Lucas to the Pumpkin Patch in Springville on Friday. It turned out to be a beautiful day for pumpkin hunting! Lucas loved it. Once he found his perfect pumpkin we headed over to the little straw maze. It was just his size! He had fun chasing all the other little kids that were there. We got pumpkins to carve, but haven't gotten around to doing it yet. Maybe this coming weekend.

Also on Friday, Tawn and I decided we were going to make a bunch of freezer ready meals. They sound really good and I'm excited to try them...as long as I remember to take them out of the freezer!! If anyone has any good receipes, please share.

We hadn't see the Kesler's for so long, that we pretty much just spent the weekend with them! We went to dinner Friday night to Ottavio's...yum! Yesterday we did hamburger on the grill and chit chatted. After Jed got home from his meeting, we watched Transformers. We love having them so close and can't wait for that baby girl to get here!






















In other exciting news...Jed now has a calling! We've been in this ward for over a year now and he hasn't had a calling yet. On Saturday he got a call to meet with the Stake Presidency. He's the 2nd counselor in the "North" Elder's Quorum. Yup...our ward is so big again, that we need two E.Q.'s again. It usually means that they'll be splitting the ward in the near future...again! The subdivision to the west of us isn't to far from being completed so it'll probably happen around that time. This would be our 3rd split since we moved in and probably the last...maybe! We are both so excited about his calling. He's anxious to finally get to meet and get to know people. He really likes the men that he'll serve with.

Nursery has been the biggest challenge lately. Lucas just screams when we try to take him in there. It's been that way since about June. Previous to that...he loved Nursery. I promised him that we would stay with him in yesterday. Jed went for the first little bit so I could feed Kody and than I went in while Jed went to class. He did really good, but still checked to make sure I was sitting there. I'm hoping that eventually he'll decide he can do it by himself. Especially since he'll be a Sunbeam in January!

3 Month-er

That's right...Kody is 1/4th of a year old. Wow! It's amazing how the time can play tricks on you. I feel like it was just yesterday that we held him for the first time, yet it's hard to remember what our family was like with out him 3 months ago!

He is so happy these days. The other day he started giggling when I was playing with him. So cute!

He now only cries when he's tired or hungry. This is extremely nice these days.

He sleeps pretty good, but there is still room for improvement! He usually goes to bed about 9:30 or 10 and wakes up around 4:30, although last night we made it to 5:30! I am grateful that he goes right back to sleep after eating!

He's always trying to sit up. He lifts his head when he's in his carseat or propped up on a pillow. I keep telling him to relax...I need my baby for awhile longer!

He and Lucas are sure a blessing in our little family. We love them so much!



Here are a few funny things Lucas has said lately:

When he can't find one of his toys he puts his finger over his lips and says "hmmm....maybe its lost, mom find it!"

When he knows that he's in trouble and I'm not very happy he'll say "mom, mate you happy" "smile at me" "div me hudgs". How can I stay mad??!!

A couple days ago he was playing in his room and I could hear him talking to himself... "not untle Shane, not untle Nathan, not aunt Mary Man, aunt Taease...yes, dat's right, aunt Taease!" I have no idea what he was doing, but I was laughing!

Saying prayers the other night, I said "please bless" and he responds with "daddy" so I say "and" and this is the list he gives: dama, dampa, dama, dampa, Shara, Tody." Hello...where is "Mom"! I had to pry it out of him!

Grama & Grampa Great

On the 1st I flew to Mesa to stay with my grandparents for a few days before the trip to Mexico. Flying with two kidos by myself was a real treat. They both did excellent on the plane, but going through security took a little while! Lucas was pretty excited to be riding on an airplane, although this was his 4th plane ride.


I love visiting with grandpa & grandma. I lived with them for two summers and absolutely loved it. I appreciate everything they do and love them so much. My mom flew down the day we left for Mexico to stay with Lucas. They went up to the Germaine's cabin for a few days to watch conference. They have a little puppy that Lucas loves to play with. Since I was gone, I don't have any pictures of this, but mom should be posting some!


My mom flew back with me on the 9th. It was nice to have some help this time. Lucas actually slept for most of the flight. Lucas was excited to see his dad and I was too! We sure missed him. He didn't get an elk on the hunt, but said he had fun.


Thank you grampa & grandma for letting us come visit. We sure had fun. Also, thank you to my mom for staying with Lucas while I was in Mexico. We love you all so much!



















Lucas and I went swimming a couple of times. The first time the water was warm, but the second time it was so cold. Apparently it had cooled off while I was gone. Lucas didn't seem to mind, but my legs were a bit numb!

Lucas loved to spend time at a little park they just put in at my grandparents place. He never wanted to leave.

They have a little waterfall that Lucas loves to go look at. Anything with water gets his attention!

My cousins, Jen & Marsha, came over with their kids to play at the park one day. It was fun to visit with them and see their cute kids. Grandma bought pizza for lunch. Notice all the red faces...it was real warm on this day!

Rocky Point, Mexico

I had a great time on our little Beatty girls vacation to Mexico. 10 women and 2 babies headed south to Puerto Penasco a.k.a. Rocky Point. We arrived on the 4th and left on the 8th. I wasn't as free to do everything with Kody there, but it was still fun. The first couple days were really windy and one day was pretty chilly (according to me)! Here are a few of my favorite highlights (in no particular order):

1. Collecting sea shells along the beach early in the morning. This is was the cold day. By the time I finished, my hands and feet felt like ice! The previous day had been extremely windy and the ocean was really wavy. It made for good collecting the next morning because all the sea shells were in a line along the sand where high tide had been.

2. My french tip pedicure! We decided to have our toe nails done at "la spa". Heaven! I love having my toes look pretty. It's only the second time i've ever had one...I think it could turn into an addicion!



3. Old Port. I was bartering with a guy for these cute dresses for baby Abby & Tawnya's baby. I had to chuckle when he wanted to charge me $10 for the small and $11 for the medium because it was larger & had more material. I, of course, wanted to save the dollar...and...I won! Pictures 0f this town are on the following post.

4. (virgin) Pina Coloda drink...yummy! Some of the girls got these one day and they looked so good. I decided I needed to get me one before we left. I'm sure glad I did...definetly worth $5!! There's just something about sitting by the pool, sipping a drink & enjoying the sun.

5. Good Company and Good Food. A big thanks to Paulette for planning such a fun vacation. I had a great time visiting and laughing! Angie wanted a sign that said "mi casa es su casa". She was showing us the sign she had bought and someone noticed that it said "mi casa es mi casa"! We couldn't stop laughing about it. I'm sure the person who sold it to her thought "sucker"!

6. Sun! Even though the weather varied a little bit, it sure was nice to have it be warm. Especially after hearing what the weather was like here in Utah this past weekend. Jed got snowed on during the hunt. The sunsets were so beautiful.





7. Water...as Kody's mom and only source of food, I didn't get to spend a whole lot of time on the beach or by the pools, but the time I did get to spend there was really nice. The wind finally died down enough on Sunday for me to take Kody to the warm pool. Apparently all the pools were suppose to be heated, but the heaters weren't working.
