We just got back from our trip to Disneyland with Jed's family. We had so much fun. Lucas was able to celebrate his birthday while we were there. This was my first time to visit Disneyland and I had a blast. There so much to do and see... I'm not sure how you can fit it all in in one trip.
We flew out of Vegas last Saturday. Kody stayed behind and spent the week with my mom and Tawn. I missed him, but glad I didn't have to chase him around. We arrived at the Paradise Pier hotel in the afternoon and they had our room all decorated for Lucas. The weather was good for the most part, but still a bit chilly in the shade.
Sunday was Lucas' birthday and we started off the morning at breakfast with Minnie Mouse and her friends. Lucas was able to get autographs of all the characters. Minnie even took him out on the floor to dance. (I'd post a video, but still can't figure it out on this new blogger thing.) Ryker loved it... he was so excited to touch all of them.
Lucas wore his birthday hat all day and got special attention from everyone. Even Santa leaned over during the parade and told him happy birthday over the loud speaker. We spent the rest of the day riding rides with one fearless 5 year old. He loved them all, but especially the roller coasters! Some of the things we did this day were: Space Mountain (twice), Matterhorn, Pirates of the Caribbean, Indian Jones(twice), Haunted Mansion, Buzz Lightyear (twice), Jungle Cruise, and Tarzan's Treehouse. We spent all day at Disneyland and I know my feet were ready for bed when we got back to the hotel.
Monday Lucas woke up sick. He had a bad cough (forgot to take his asthma medicine) and a bad headache. And... if he says his head hurts, we know he's going to throw up at some point. Like clock work... later that day he finally threw up and again that night. And I must say... it was nice to call housekeeping to come clean it up for a change. To bad I'm the housekeeper at home! He layed in bed all day and watched lots of movies and slept a lot. Ryker and I just chilled in the hotel room with him. Everyone else spent the day at Disneyland again (in the rain).
It ended up working out great because on Tuesday they all went to the Price is Right taping while Lucas, Ryker and I hung out at Disneyland. We did baby friendly rides like Finding Nemo, It's a Small World, Buzz Lighter (again), and Pirates of the Caribbean (I didn't get to go on it the first day and Lucas wanted to go again). We explored the Innovention place in Tomorrowland and met Mickey Mouse at his house. And I'm really sad because all the pictures I took this day I can't seem to get off the card. We got back to the hotel and Lucas hung out with Grandpa Valentine while Ryker and I took a nap. Everyone else had fun at the Price is Right, but unfortunately didn't get called up.
Wednesday we spent at California Adventure. Before we even entered the gates, I dropped the camera (lucky it was just a point and shoot) and broke it. And for some reason... now the card won't read. Bummer! We had so much fun here too. We started off with the Monster's Inc ride and then headed off to the Tower of Terror. By the time we left that evening, Lucas had been on it 3 times. We went on Soarin' Over California (twice), Toy Story, saw the 3D "It's Tough to be a Bug" movie, and got jerked around in a car on Mulholland Madness. Lucas and I rode the ferris wheel while the other's went on Mailboomer (the one ride Lucas didn't meet the height requirement). Last, but not least, we rode the California Screamin', which turned out be the Lucas' favorite ride of all. He barely, barley met the height requirement and only because he took a deep breath and it made his head touch the top of the bar. I'm betting he was probably the youngest to ride it that day and love it!
I haven't walked so much in a long time, but it was well worth it. Ryker was an angel the entire time and hardly made any noise.... during the day. At night he wasn't as angelic... :) I still had to work while we were there so I was up at 5:00 every morning. I was pretty tired by the end of the day.
Thursday we headed back to the airport. We were able to get on as standby for an earlier flight to Las Vegas (or we would have been at the airport for about 5 hours). Kody had flown earlier that morning to Las Vegas with my mom, Tawnya and Reese for the horse sale. My dad was already down there doing a booth. We met them at the South Pointe hotel. I think Kody was excited to see us... for a minute. He was more interested in all the horses! We stayed one night in Vegas then headed home the next day. We stopped and visited with Grandma Beatty for a minute. We were glad we didn't have any bad weather on our way home and pulled in the driveway about 8:00. It was nice to sleep in our beds... and especially have Ryker sleep all night!
Thanks Grandpa & Grandma for our fun vacation and making Lucas' birthday one he'll remember. We love you.
