A Taste of Heaven in 2007

That's the theme to this years Box Elder County Fair (although I just learned that while walking through the exhibits today). The fair has been a tradition in my family for quite some time. We've all shown animals, entered cookies, veggies, sewing, and any possible craft that we made during the year in hopes of earning a blue ribbon, which in turn earned us some money! This year (and last) my dad is the one showing of his skills. My dad's business, B&M Boot Repair, is selling coats, scarves, vests & also the canvas bed rolls that he makes. He's done really well the first two days and I'm sure he will continue to do well through the end of the fair.

Me & the little boys (and my mom) drove up to Honeyville on Tuesday. My mom had been down here in Spanish Fork helping Jess(ica) move in to our house. That's right...she's officially moved in and has completed her first two days of college! We are sure excited to have her here...Lucas adores her.

Wednesday was the opening day of the fair. We had originally talked ourselves out of going to the parade and we should have kept with that decision. It started raining with lightning and thunder. Lucas does not like thunder! We watched enough of the parade to see the flag go by (a total of 3 entries) and then decided to leave. Lucky for Kody...he had a nice stroller and car seat to keep him dry...the rest of us were pretty wet! My parents have their camp trailer out at the fairgrounds so we camped in it until it stopped raining.

I wanted to take Lucas on a couple of rides since they are cheaper on Wednesday night. He had a blast and even wanted to ride the caterpillar (see post). Although, I would not let him! For the first ride he wanted the horses. The second ride, we settled for the very mellow train. He was smiling from ear to ear the entire time.

Today we spent a few hours out there before heading back home. Kody spent most of the fair asleep!

We are going down to Jed's cabin for the Beatty Family Reunion on Saturday. Tomorrow night is Jed's work party and he's pretty pumped about winning some prizes!

Photo Shoot

well...my version of a photo shoot. A white comforter, king size bed and a naked baby...pretty simple and didn't cost me a dime (except for the comforter and the naked baby)! Anyhoo...there are a lot of pictures that follow...just warning ya! Can you believe he's already a month old??!! Make sure to check out the rolls on those arms and the chin...they're to die for (in my book anyways)! And no...he doesn't have red hair, but the pictures sure make him look like it.

Early this morning, as I was feeding Kody at 3:00 a.m., I started thinking about what makes me happy...(I have to do something or I'd fall asleep)!

5. Adobe Photoshop - I love designing different announcements, invites, etc. I could spend way to much time just coming up with different ideas.

4. Crafts - I'm not super crafty, but when I have an idea, I love doing it. Frames are usually my first love!

3. Hooter Hider - best invention ever!! I've made me a couple of them. I'm not one of these people who loves nursing...especially in public!! These make it actually possible to nurse without embarrassing myself or others!! Forget the blanket...get yourself a hooter hider...Love it!!

2. My Camera - I am by no means a professional...I just love to take pictures. I'm slowly learning and still have a VERY long way to go.

1. My Boys - they are my life. I love them so much...even if Lucas has selective hearing & Kody wants to eat every 30 minutes!! How grateful I am for eternal families. How could you not want to spend now and forever with the ones you love??!! When I have those tough days (and I do)...I just have to remember what I've been blessed with...an awesome king & two healthy handsome prince's**. What more could a queen want!

** Lucas refers to himself & Kody as the handsome prince's and Jed as the king. I'm either the queen or princess...depends on the day!

A sunny day in SLC

Yesterday we took Kody for his ultrasound at Primary Children's. We are glad that his hip looks great and we don't have to do anything for it. He also turned 4 weeks yesterday...how crazy is that.

Since we were already up in that area, we decided to take Lucas to Hogle Zoo. We had a great time (even if it was hot - record breaking day)! Lucas was so excited to see the animals, but once we got to one, he wanted to see the next. We couldn't hardly get him to stay long enough to actually look at them!

Lucas was scared to death of this wood gorilla. I wanted him to stand by it so we could measure him, but with no luck. He has a death grip on Jed!

This leopard was growling and hissing at Lucas through the window. He thought it was so cool. He kept saying, "So tute". Jed and I just laughed! Apparently we were interrupting it's lunch time...they had just fed it a bone! By far...the coolest part of the day!

It's so weird to see a white alligator. Both Jed and I were suprised at how big he actually was. I was picturing something smaller.

He's getting more and more rolls and his cheeks are so pinchable...could he possibly be a contender for the Fattest Baby Award?? Nothing would make me more proud! Guess we'll have to wait and see...

Huh??!!

Aren't they suppose to be older than 3 weeks??? I know they grow up fast, but this is a little too fast for me! I choose not to believe it!

when I can button up a pair of my regular pants without sucking it in! Goodbye maternity clothes...until we meet again (in a few years!)

Growing like a weed...

Yesterday was Kody's two week check-up. He weighed in at a whopping 8lbs even and had grown to 20 1/2 inches. I just can't hardly believe how fast they grow. We do have to take him up to Primary Children's to have them do an ultrasound on his left hip. Dr. Bennett said he felt a little to much movement in his hip, but we shouldn't worry to much about it. They have to make sure the socket isn't growing flat. Other than that, he looks great!

5 years down...Forever to go!

Happy Anniversary Love! It seems like we've been married for so much longer than 5 years. It's hard to remember life without you by my side. We've grown so much together. Now we have two little boys who we both love beyond words! Thank you for always listening to me, even if it's not the ideal time of day! There is no better way to spend eternity than with my best friend. I LOVE YOU!
